The Israeli military has been accused of committing a series of massacres against Palestinian families in Gaza, with reports emerging that at least 47 civilians have been killed and nearly 200 others injured in a 24-hour period.
This is according to a report by the WAFA News Agency on Nov. 13, which cited medical sources in Gaza. The scale of the devastation has been alarming, with numerous families caught in Israeli airstrikes across the region.
On Nov. 12, one of the deadliest attacks occurred in the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza, where at least 10 Palestinians, including children, were killed when Israeli forces bombed a house. The airstrike was described as a massacre by local media, with no immediate indication that the house was being used for any military purpose.
Al Jazeera reported that several other people were injured in the attack, and many survivors were left trapped under the rubble. The Jabalia camp has been heavily targeted during the ongoing conflict, with civilians bearing the brunt of the airstrikes in what is one of the most densely populated areas in Gaza.
Further south in Gaza City’s Shujaiya neighborhood, Israeli forces carried out additional strikes that resulted in the deaths of at least two more Palestinians. In Al-Mawasi, on Gaza’s southern coast, a family home was bombed, killing eight people.
Al-Mawasi has been a focus of several attacks, with civil defense teams reporting that dozens of people were inside the house at the time of the bombing. As of the report, many remain trapped under the debris, and efforts to rescue them are ongoing. The recent violence in Gaza comes amid increasingly alarming reports from humanitarian workers and medical personnel. British surgeon Nizam Mamode, who recently returned from working in a Gaza hospital, testified to the British House of Commons about the devastating and deliberate targeting of civilians, including children, by Israeli drones.
Mamode described how, after bombings, drones would hover over the injured and pick off victims, often children, who were lying wounded on the ground. He stated that such attacks were a daily occurrence, with multiple mass casualty incidents happening every day, killing as many as 20 civilians at a time. The testimony has sparked outrage and further criticism of Israel’s conduct during the ongoing conflict.
On the international front, eight humanitarian organizations issued a joint statement accusing Israel of failing to meet demands for greater humanitarian access to Gaza.
Despite international pressure, the United States has refrained from restricting arms transfers to Israel. President Joe Biden’s administration had previously given Israel a 30-day deadline to improve humanitarian access to Gaza or face potential legal consequences, including a reduction in U.S. military support.
However, there is little sign of significant improvement on the ground, with experts warning that Gaza may already be facing a famine-like situation in the northern part of the territory.
