#1 kid’s vitamin contains toxic chemicals and fillers

Everyone’s favorite children’s vitamin just turned sinister. That’s right, Flintstones Vitamins, made by Bayer, which boastfully claim “Pediatricians’ #1 Choice” right on the bottle, may not be number one after all. In fact, they contain a slew of questionable, if not toxic, ingredients.

The list includes aspartame, cupric oxide, sorbitol, hydrogenated oils and GMO cornstarch – just to name a few.

It’s well documented that aspartame is toxic to humans, and can lead to neurotoxicity among other things. European Union’s Dangerous Substance Directive, one of the main EU laws concerning chemical safety, considers cupric oxide, which is listed as being the source of copper in these vitamins, a toxic and harmful chemical. It’s actually used in many industrial applications – including the formation of dry cell batteries. And yet, here it is…in a children’s vitamin?

Another wonderful ingredient found in these vitamins is zinc oxide – something you typically find in sunscreen. The EU Dangerous Substance guide lists this one as an environmental toxin too.

Why are we filling our children with toxic food, and toxic “vitamins”? There are plenty of more bioavailable, and non-toxic options out there – not just for parents but for companies like Bayer to choose from.
